Because of its steep learning curve, students can effectively learn self defense techniques in a short amount of time. This course will be comprised of lecture, demonstration and practical application exercise. The course is physical in nature but gender neutral. A methodology of live training will be emphasized, as well as safety and the history of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Uniform Policy No special uniforms will be required. Students will be required to wear tasteful workout clothes to class (i.e. shorts/sweat pants and t-shirts). Jeans, shorts of inappropriate length, bathing suits and sleeveless shirts will not be permitted. Athletic protectors and mouth pieces are suggested but not required. There will be specific days that students will be required to bring in a long sleeve collared shirt.
Your Responsibilities Your primary responsibilities are to attend and participate in class. It is important that you show up to class dressed appropriately as outlined above. Safety procedures have been put in place for a reason and must be adhered to at all times. You are responsible for all of the material in lectures and there will be a final examination based on the material covered. Personal hygiene is important. All students must arrive to class wearing clean clothes and should bath regularly to negate health risks.
Attendance, Make-up Exams and Sparring Sessions Being an active member of the class will determine part of your participation grade. Attendance is a prerequisite to participation. Live training is an important component of this class. I must pre-approve any absences, especially on days of the exams or live sparring sessions so I can make other arrangements. Otherwise there will be no make-up.
