The Welcome Back BBQ takes place at the beginning of the fall quarter to welcome the incoming freshmen and returning cadets to the new school year. The freshmen cadets are sworn in by the Professor of Military Science and the senior Cadet Chain of Command is announced.

The barbaque itself is open to all cadets, friends, family, staff, and members of different community organizations such as World War II veterans, members of the Navy League, and Friends of ROTC.
